This is because Epson enforced a block on older cartridges in printers manufactured after this date. To find out your printers manufacture date you will need to contact your local Epson service centre, who has the ability to check by using your printers serial number. If you can not find your printers manufacturing date or dont know then select a ink cartridge that works on all printers no matter what date is manufactured (this is mentioned on each product page).
